Not Sure Where to Start?
Find the training path that fits your goals.
Not everyone arrives knowing which class or training option makes the most sense. You might know you want to feel safer, get more prepared, apply for a Permit to Carry, learn emergency skills, or ask questions before taking the next step. That is a normal place to begin.
Share what you are looking for, your experience level, and any concerns you have, and we can help point you toward a practical starting point.
Who This Is For
This page is for people who are interested in training but are not sure where they fit yet. You may be brand new, returning after a long break, exploring non-lethal options, preparing for a Permit to Carry, looking for private instruction, or trying to find the right training for a family member or group.
You do not need to have the perfect question or the right terminology. A simple message about what you are hoping to learn is enough.
Common Starting Points
I’m brand new to firearms
Basic Handgun or private instruction is usually the best place to start. These options give you time to build comfort with safety, handling, terminology, and basic shooting fundamentals before moving into a larger class setting.
I want my Minnesota Permit to Carry
Permit to Carry training is the right path if you are ready to complete the required training for a Minnesota permit application. If you are completely new to handguns, you may want Basic Handgun or private instruction first.
I want to feel safer, but I’m not sure about firearms
Personal Safety & Self-Defense or Non-Lethal Fundamentals may be a better starting point. These options focus on awareness, boundaries, decision-making, non-lethal tools, and practical protection choices.
I want emergency skills
Emergency First Aid Fundamentals is a strong starting point if you want to be more useful during injuries, urgent situations, or the first few minutes before help arrives.
I’m looking for training for my family
Youth & Family Safety may be the right fit if you want help with children’s firearms safety, safe storage conversations, emergency awareness, or age-appropriate safety education.
I need training for a workplace, nonprofit, or group
Organizations & Community Groups is the best path for custom training. We can talk through your audience, goals, concerns, group size, and the type of training that would be most useful.
