Equal Access Program
How is financial assistance determined?
We review each application individually, considering the information provided and current availability of funds. Our goal is to expand access while keeping the process simple and respectful.
Do I need to provide proof of income?
No. We do not require extensive documentation or proof of income. We rely on the information you provide and review each request with care.
How are my contributions used?
Contributions are used to support access to approved training opportunities. Funds may be applied to class registration, instruction, or other access-related needs depending on availability and where support is needed most.
Can I choose who my contribution supports?
At this time, contributions are allocated based on program needs to ensure funds are used effectively and fairly. However, anyone is welcome to directly purchase training for others as they please.
Are contributions tax deductible?
No. Contributions are not tax-deductible and are applied directly to support training access.
What types of training can assistance be used for?
Assistance may be applied to a range of training opportunities, including permit to carry classes, introductory training, and other offered instruction.
How long does it take to hear back?
We aim to review applications and respond as promptly as possible. Timing may vary depending on volume and availability.
Getting Started
I’m completely new. Is that okay?
Absolutely. Many students are brand new, and classes are designed to be welcoming, supportive, and approachable for all experience levels.
You do not need to know anything coming in. We’ll guide you step by step and create an environment where questions are encouraged, not judged.
I’m nervous. What should I expect?
That’s completely normal. A lot of students feel nervous before their first class.
Our environment is designed to be respectful, welcoming, and pressure-free. You won’t be rushed or expected to know anything ahead of time—we meet you where you are and help you build confidence step by step.
What if I’m not sure which training option is right for me?
That’s okay. Everyone starts somewhere.
If you’re completely new to firearms, Basic Handgun is often the best place to start. If you’re ready to complete the required training for a Minnesota Permit to Carry, the Permit to Carry course is the right fit.
If you’re looking for personal safety, non-lethal options, emergency readiness, youth and family safety, or group training, visit the Training page or reach out and we’ll help you choose the best starting point.
Do I need a firearm?
No. You do not need to own a firearm to attend most classes.
Equipment can be provided when needed, and we will walk you through everything clearly and safely. If you already own a firearm, you’re welcome to bring it.
If you’re completely new, we recommend starting with a Basic Handgun Lesson.
Training Logistics
Do I need prior experience?
No prior experience is required. Classes are designed to support a wide range of students, including complete beginners.
What should I bring to class?
We’ll provide details after booking, but generally:
- A valid ID
- Comfortable clothing
- Anything you normally use for training (if applicable)
- A willingness to learn
If equipment is needed, we’ll help you prepare ahead of time.
Where are classes held?
Classes are held in the Twin Cities South Metro area (Minneapolis–St. Paul).
Exact location details are provided during registration.
How quickly will I get a response?
We’ll get back to you as soon as possible—often within a few hours.
How do I register for training?
Online registration is currently available for Minnesota Permit to Carry and Basic Handgun through their schedule pages. Other training options may be scheduled by request.
If you are interested in private instruction, group training, emergency readiness, youth and family safety, or something custom, please reach out and we can talk through the best fit.
