Professional instruction in a welcoming environment designed for real learning.

Cory Rupert (he/him)
Instructor & Owner, Creating Equality
USCCA Certified Instructor • Minnesota Permit to Carry Instructor
My name is Cory (he/him), and I started Creating Equality because too many people who want to learn about personal protection, self-defense, and responsible firearms ownership have felt overlooked, unwelcome, or intimidated in traditional training environments.
As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, that experience is personal—and it shapes how I approach building a training environment where people feel respected, included, and able to learn without pressure.
I believe good instruction should be clear, practical, and respectful. People learn best when they can ask questions, take their time, and build confidence without pressure.
Creating Equality was built to provide that kind of environment—professional, approachable, and focused on helping people move forward with confidence.

My Path to Instruction
My introduction to firearms started early, learning safety and handling in a controlled environment with family. That foundation instilled a lasting respect for responsible ownership and safe practices.
As I got older, that experience grew into a deeper focus on not just how to handle firearms, but how to do so safely, confidently, and responsibly. I found myself helping friends and family who were new—walking them through the fundamentals and creating a space where they could learn without feeling rushed or judged.
Those experiences shaped how I approach instruction today. People learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and progressing at their own pace.
My background isn’t rooted in military or law enforcement—it’s rooted in learning, teaching, and helping people build confidence safely and effectively.
That perspective led me to pursue formal certification and build Creating Equality. My focus isn’t just on teaching technical skills, but on creating an environment where people feel supported, respected, and capable—regardless of where they’re starting.
